I took my 11 year old girl Maltese mix on Dec 4,2011 and the dr. Took xrays of her heart diagnosed her with a heart murmur prescribed pemoebendan and lasik and on December 29, 2011 I took her back with breathing fast and she was given a shot , I spent 5 hours at that office brought my dog home. Had to wait for another pill picked up from the office administered the heart pill medication and my dog died at home the same day. I took her lifeless body back to that horrible clinic I was hysterical and not one dr. Double checked if my dog had passed out or if she was definitely dead. Till this day I wonder if too much medication caused her little weak heart to collapse, according to those drs she had weeks to month to live never did they mention the medicine could of caused cardiac arrest. |

My experiences have been nothing but top notch. Great customer service, great medical attention along with pet education and the best of personal care for daycare and boarding of pets. Try them out, you will not be disappointed and if you are PLEASE tell THEM, immediately. |

My cat came home injured after being gone for three days. Could not walk and would not eat or drink. Called my vet and scheduled an appoinmnet for 11:00. I was 10 minutes late so they refused to see us. I went home and there was a message on my answering machine from them. It was 11:04 and they could not take me becaue I was late. They fit me in best they could but it was after 11:00. I ended up taking my cat to Wachusett Animal Hospital. He was suffering from dehydration and found out he has an overactive thyroid which will cause weakness in the hind quarters. Thank you Wachusett Animal Hospital. They were awesome. As for Leominster Animal Hospital shame on you and your staff for being so ridgid and uniterested. |

Fantastic staff. Have taken my animals there for many years and met almost every vet. Compassionate, caring and totally in tune with my beliefs. Cannot say enough good things about them.
I live much closer to another vet that I would never take any animal too. I once rushed my cat to them and they put the cat thru hell. I complained about them to the vet board in b.c. and was told that nothing could be done..it was a business. Since that day many people have told me they will not deal with that vet. Not sure if I could be sued for saying that vets name, so I won't. But the Prince George Veterinary Hospital on 18th Ave. in Prince George, B.C. is fantastic.
I have taken my animals to the Ospika vet when they are on call (the 3 vets in this town share emergency calls) and they seemed fine too.I would rate Prince George Veterinary Hospital as #1, Ospika Vet #2 and the third vet..... -10. |

So I learnt my lesson, I will admit this isnt my first time on this site and I am sorry that only people who had bad experiences are the ones that think to post rants and raves on the web. I just moved to Calgary and my 9 month old puppy was in need of a vet. I had read a couple posts and decided to take my dog to see a vet that people raved about and had 30 years experience. The wait was horrible we had a 4pm appt and while talking to everyone in the waiting room so did about 3 other people. By the time I actually saw the vet he said the vomiting and diarrhea was just giardia and all would be fine with a few pills and injections. The next day Chop kept getting worse and at 2 in the morning I didnt know what to do. I took him to Mcknight Veterinary Hospital and the staff were amazing. Dr Kimura was very strait forward with me and I appreciated the time she took to go over all my options and was very compassonate with us. I never felt judged by the staff as it was my fault for not getting Chops shots. I didnt know that parvovirus could be as severe as it got and I will never let that happen again. I even called arund to get estimates from other clinics and mcknight was by far the most reasonable. I was able to call at anytime of the day or night and get updates on him and they made me feel alot better with everything. I really want to thank everyone who helped with Chop and I will always go back for shots and any emergencies, but hope that I dont have anymore. |

Yes, phenobarb is used for anesthesia. There are numerous protocols and drugs that can be used. And yes, and elongated soft palate can cause complications during anesthesia.

Took my dog for neuter surgery, called at 1:30 to see how he was doing and was told by Meredith that he was a having a bit of a hard time waking up from the anesthetic and she wanted to keep him til 6pm. She felt it was an elongated palate issue and wanted to keep an eye on him just in case he needed to go back into surgery. (Having an elongated palate is not a reason to have a problem waking up!) When I picked him up at 6 and received my invoice, I noticed that Phenobarbital (an anti convulsant)was given to him, when I questioned this the Tech told me that my dog has seizures and is epileptic, it was in his chart.(My previous dog was epileptic caused by a rabies vaccination so I choose not to vaccinate my current dog,who was not treated at this clinic, this was noted in my current dogs chart.) I was told to keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't stop breathing through the night. The next morning Meredith called to see how he was doing. I questioned her about the Phenobarbital and she told me it is her standard anesthetic protocol for surgeries. Phenobarbital is not a standard sedative used for surgery, it used as an anti convulsant to control seizures!! I have friends who's dogs have had this surgery done by Meredith and this drug was NOT used! I sent the owner of the clinic an email asking why this drug would be used and if he would use it for his dog (same breed as mine), he responded by saying it's not commonly used, but they do use it sometimes because it is safer for the heart and yes he would use it for his dog. Phenobarbital is not easy on the heart! I sent an email to Meredith last week asking why her Tech told me my dog has seizures and why she told me it is standard operating procedure to use Phenobarbital when 7 people I know who's dogs surgeries were performed by her, why it wasn't used for their dogs. I still have not received a response. So to sum it up, after investigation I found out my dog crashed and required 30 minutes of oxygen therapy and a Tech to sit with him for 4 hours, the Phenobarbital depressed his respiratory system.(did this not warrant a phone call to me to let me know what happened? Considering my dog almost died. Obviously someone just skimmed over my dogs chart and seen the word "epilepsy" and assumed this dog was epileptic. The Tech didn't know any better and told me he had seizures as it was in his chart. WRONG!! Then Meredith telling me using Phenobarbital is standard operating procedure for her surgeries. LIES!!! The owner of the clinic saying Phenobarbital is safer for the heart.(My dog is healthy, unless something showed up on the bloodwork-should I not be notified if there was something on the labs?)MORE LIES!! and then not even responding to my emails asking about the indiscrepencies?? I was not confrontational in any of my emails so there was no reason not to respond, other than the fact she made a mistake in reading my dogs chart, resulting in my dog almost dying and then lying to me about why she used the sedatives she did. Really not having the balls to answer my questions regarding the lies. That was enough for me to change my vet, and I will be filing a complaint with the OVC and letting everybody I know how unethical and what cover ups happen at this clinic if they think you are an uneducated client! |

The next day when I took Jasper to see Dr. Andrea, she was excellent and honest. She asked that when I returned on Monday if I could bring Jasper in, in the morning so she herself could see her. She was sympathetic towards my dog and gave her excellent care. However I did find them expensive, but with Dr. Andrea being extremely caring, I will be taking my dog to this clinic from now on :) |

He has always diagnosed my pets, usually within the first few minutes and doesn't waste your money on expensive and useless treatments. If you want to go that route, he will not talk you out of it but always gives you options. He is the most caring and kind individual that I have ever had the fortune to meet and I would trust no one else with my babies! Deb and Brad Soehenr |

What the client sees in the waiting area is different than what the animals see when the leash is handed over. I would never, ever recommend this clinic to anyone. The grooming area is appalling as the animals are placed in tiny dirty cages and often the dogs are left unattended on the tables where they could fall. The animals are roughed up when in that area and there is a reason why they are happy to be returned to the owners. When the animals are there for boarding they are given very minimal interaction. The staff talk about the clients like they are dirt and taken advantage of. Staff are given tasks that they are not always trained to do. There is a reason why the clients are not brought into the areas where the animals are treated and I encourage to have the parents ask to see where the pets are taken. People treat pets like they are part of the family, and unless you really do not like your family, never step foot in the door. |

Dr. Langil over sedated my beagle who was brought to him to check why she was losing her balance and her eyes looked strange. She had had her distemper vaccine a few days before. When the vet saw her he said she would stay overnight and give her bloodtests. Well the next day he and his staff told my husband that our beagle was great, walking great and looked well! We picked her up she couldnt walk, apparently he while being uncertain what was wrong with her he gave her the Max dose of valium intraveously to keep her quiet took the chance of making Lilly worse and then after we picked her up and wanted to ask him what went wrong,,well he was "too busy" to come to the phone. Today I called again he had no idea I was really upset. He again was too busy. So my dog was brought to another animal hospital and was treated so very well. This doctor is insensitive and doesnt care for the animal more interested in the check at the end of it all. |

It might sound unbelievable, but even veterinarians have to earn money in order to pay their grocery bills and to provide for their families. It makes me sick to see, how people describe vets as greedy, only because they are charging for what they do. I'm sure, they would love to work free of charge, but then their business can't stay open and they can't continue to help pets in need. And yes, it is not a right to own a pet, it is luxury. If you cannot provide for your oet's medical care, get pet insurance, or don't own a pet. There are many rescues out there, that are desperate for foster homes. Being a foster is a great alternative, if you don't have the funds to own a pet.
Thinking, that vets practice their job to make money is completely ridiculous, as most vets do not earn as much as everybody thinks (look into the statistics that are available online). Plus most vets work crazy hours.
Putting an animal down is the least favourite part of a vet's job, but ultimately, the decision is up to the owner, not the vet. |

If I could give a 0 I would! This clinic is more interested in making $ than helping animals!
McKnight was the closest vet to where I lived and I had a sick kitty, Tigger, 6 yr old Tabby. We had been fighting crystals in his bladder before moving back to Canada from the US. He had regularly been seen by a vet in the states and was prescribed a special diet of dry cat food. I ran out of his special food and had to cheapen out with what he ate.
At one point, I had gone into the clinic looking to purchase the same brand & type of what his 'US vet' said he needed to be on. When I inquired about purchasing the food, I was questioned why did they prescribe him that? That food doesn't do anything for crystals in the bladder. Feeling dumb I put the bag down & walked out. Needless to say he fell seriously ill.
Tigger became lethargic & I knew it was bad news. I took him into McKnight & while waiting to be seen there where at least 4 people, that I can remember, who were there to pick up their loved pets remains... a red flag went up in my mind but I ignored it because Tigger was sick! We had fought so hard & I figured we could make it through this too!
Tigger was seen by the vet in the am. She, the vet, told me he was in diabetic shock and it would cost me over $1000 per day to monitor him & he had to stay at least 2 nights. I was not only shocked by the price (knowing I was working 2 jobs & was broke) but when I asked it there was a way we could work out a payment plan... she handed me a pamphlet & advised to apply for a loan! I begged & pleaded for them to do their job & help a sick animal, having full intentions to pay them... even quit my 2nd job & work at the clinic if I had to. (I had not been back in Canada long enough to develop credit to be approved for a loan of any sorts) Regardless, I applied for the loan and was declined due to no credit & not being able to have a cosigner that lived in the country.
By that afternoon, they had told me Tigger had to be put down. They had a seperate room with 2 doors (one at the front for me to enter & one from the back) They allowed me 15-20 minutes to say my good byes... I was bawling my eyes out & trying to stay collected enough to console my baby Tigger) Its still hard to talk about today... I begged again for help again, not for me but for my baby boy! Nothing... they took him from me while I went to pay the bill. When I came back into the room, the assistant told me to say a last good bye. Then she took him into the back.
I couldn't go back there & watch them do this to him! I had to leave the building & went to my car to sob. Collecting myself I went back to the 'special' room.
An assistant walked into the room with a binder, opened it up and wanted me to choose his earn... per my request I wanted to keep him close to me always.
I mean, all they did while he was there during the day was hook him up to an I.V to get him hydrated... they didn't give him a little insulin to see if he reacted to it. They were more worried about me paying than the fact that Tigger needed help! with me willing to do anything I had too to help him.
To top it off... it took them almost a MONTH to get his remains back to me! I received a cheezy 'we're sorry for you loss' card from them in the mail.
I beg you NEVER take your pet here if you care about them staying alive or actually getting better! There were just too many people picking up ashes EVERY TIME I went in there!!!

I've acquired 3 more cats since then, and they are wonderfully kind, gentle, caring, and full of knowledge, always providing the best care and advice. Dr. Choong is so sincere and truly loves all the animals that walk through the door. The staff is just as loving and I really feel as though I've adopted them as a family as well. I couldn't leave my cats in better hands and would never ever consider changing Vets at any point in time, no matter where I live or if it takes an hour to get there. My family has been going to this vet for 11 years; our first encounter was very good. Good service, good knowledge. Dr. Slaunwhite saved our Poodle from having to be put down. This year we took in a new pet, and have come to realize that the staff is no longer the same. Dr. Rhonda MacDonald scared our dog by almost breaking her vaccine needle inside her; she misdiagnosed two cases of ear symptoms (Ear Mites+Infection) in two of our older dogs; she was completely out of her league and had no idea what she was doing 90% of the time. Our new dog was fixed last month, and from the beginning, her wound looked like it wouldn't heal properly. At the end of the month, we called back to check for infection as she had two large bumps that appeared to be gathering pus. At first, we were going to be charged $100 for a checkup that is supposed to be free, until a large amount of arguing, we ended up paying nothing. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS VET. In our first visit to this clinic we paid seven hundred dollars towards x-rays and blood tests for our 3 year old cat who was experiencing occasional and repeated bile vomiting, but otherwise appeared extremely healthy . We were told by the Vet during the examination that these x-rays proved inconclusive and that the next step would be a much less expensive second set of x-rays within the next week, after changing his food (to a more expensive brand) to ensure his bowels were moving properly, even though we had stressed he was moving his bowels without difficulty to begin with. If this second set still proved inconclusive, the step after would be a one hundred and sixty dollar pancreas test (she was very dollar specific, which should have raised some eyebrows to being with, considering we had no compunction in dropping seven hundred dollars for one half hour of inconclusive tests to begin with). Despite the initial cost, this seemed like a very reasonable course of action.
The next day (less than 24 hours later) we were contacted by the receptionist who told my very distraught girlfriend that; the blood tests we're 'negative', was unable to specify what he was 'negative' for (didn't realize you could be 'negative' for a CBC), and that the next step would be a three hundred dollar barium scan, not the sixty dollar second set of x-rays the actual Vet had told us about. When I heard this I immediately called the clinic in order to book a consult with the actual Vet to ensure that this was indeed what was required, only to be told that our Vet wasn't even in the office that day. If the Vet was not in, where was the RECEPTIONIST getting her information from?
Now, I really have to ask why in the world would I put a beloved and ailing member of my family through a painful, stressful, and expensive, barium test on the word of some RECEPTIONIST when I have already been told the next , and certainly less painful, course of action by an actual Veterinarian is a simple second set of x-rays?? Never mind the fact that no one I spoke to was able to tell me what a barium test tells us that a second set of x-rays wouldn't. The rays were to ensure that his bowels were moving properly and the reason given for the much more expensive procedure was the same.
I recommend that if you do indeed choose to frequent the Secord Animal Hospital, you ensure that you are paying for the diagnosis of an expert, not the assumptions of someone being paid to answer phones. Our family will not be returning, and if i could give a rating of zero, I would. |

A factory-like operation where your pet does not receive consistent, professional treatment. They let the vet-techs monitor the general anaesthesia, which has resulted in quite a few deaths there. If your vet recommends these people to you, go get another vet! |

I've read lots of great reviews from this practice and on my first visit we got okay service, nothing to write home about. My second visit with my 14.5 year old was different. I asked to be stay with her during a blood draw which was fine when I asked. Then later the tech came in a said I would not be able to do this again in the future after talking to the vet about it. Then I asked to hold her while the procedure was done, nope. The tech was rough with my old gal.
Two weeks after my visit I got an email asking me not to return. My questions and asking to be with my dog had obviously not gone over well and was against protocol. No concern for my pet; only protocol. Would not recommend this vet, I want someone who cares about my dogs. |

I have to send out my thanks to the team at this veterinary clinic, last night they saved my dog! This is dog number 2 that they have saved from near death. Last night my beagle came in from outside and was walking funny, at first we thought maybe he had hurt his leg, in a matter of seconds he started banging into the wall couldn't walk up the stairs and was vomiting. I knew something was very very wrong. I rushed him out to the car where he started thrashing in the front seat as he was having seizures. By the time I got my poor dog to the vet he had a high fever, was dehydrated, and still having seizures. Dr. Kimura and her team had him sent to the back immediately for emergency care. He was in very bad shape and Dr.Kimura was worried he may have gotten into some poison. My dog had to have quite a bit of medication and his tremors where still going, they had him on oxygen and two separate IVs. It was the most heartbreaking thing for me to see. I love my dog so very much and thanks to the staff at McKnight he is still here with me today and is now at home. Dr.Kimura even called me early on in the morning to let me know that he was getting better and she thought he was doing well. It was such a relief to hear as he was so critical before and I was certain I was going to receive a much worse call and that my family was going to loose him, or have to make a decision to end his suffering. I cant thank the staff here enough. Last October they saved my little puppy that I rescued while he was sick with pneumonia as well. He was in the hospital for quite awhile and every day I woke up wondering if he was going to make it. All the staff there worked so hard to get him back on his paws. I knew that last night they were the one place I could count on. I could of gone to a few other places, but I know I can trust these people to make the best decisions for my pets no matter, even if its a hard one. They are always honest and are willing to work with me. They always let me know all my options before hand and don't sugar coat the issues. Unfortunately it turned out that it seems someone had put some kind of poison in my yard after checking in the daylight, just as the Dr had thought. I just want to say hats off to you guys for the tough job you do everyday, Both my dogs are doing well and I'm so glad you were there to help us. I would suggest that if you want great vet care from a team that is passionate, hard working and dedicated to your pets health, this is the clinic to go to.
Once again we thank you!
Amber

Dr Deb has to be one of the most caring vets I've ever met. My dogs absolutely love her, as does my daughter's dog. She gets down to their level to talk to them and takes her time with them. She removed a tumor from our older dog and sat with him as he was coming out of the anesthetic. She also removed a tumor on our younger dog and 2 broken teeth from his mother. She called to check on both dogs after their surgeries, who else does that? When most vets won't treat our dogs because they are a 'banned' breed, Deb takes the dog for it's behavior and treats each with dignity and respect. When she had to put our old dog to sleep, she cried right along with us and then sent us a lovely poem of condolence afterward. |

We rescued 2 bernese mountain dogs....approx 3-4yrs of age. Took them in for a checkup and vaccine as soon as we got them. A month later, I noticed my female was panting a lot, drinking a lot and urinating a lot....not to mention she had blood in her urine. Made an appt to see if she was pregnant - was told by Dr. Weston "she is not pregnant - she has pyometra. I do no feel any puppies in her uterus - she should have emergency surgery tomorrow, as pyometra can be fatal - I have one spot open....." I decided I would like blood tests done as she showed no other signs - next day - blood tests were perfect...no pyometra! Is she pregnant I asked? "your $100.00 for the test is better spent on a spay, she is not pregnant" "I think she may have mucus in her uterus, so we should spay her anyways....we bring her in on the next Thursday - I get a call while Dr. Weston is in the operating room - "she is pregnant, what do you want me to do? She is under anaesthetic and I have opened her up so I don't know if the puppies will live or not...." She would have to have a c-section to deliver as the puppies were 40 - 45 days old (dogs carry to 63 days)...and there were 11 puppies....I advised to take care of my dog only.
His negligence and misdiagnosis caused the death of 11 puppies....I told him we save dogs not kill them.
Oh ya, he also made me pay for the entire spay..and bood work - $1000.00 - he justified it by saying it should have been more money since the surgery was more indepth than a regular spay.
We are taking the necessary steps to see that this doesn't happen to any other animal |

I took my pregnant boxer in, her water had broke, but she showed no labor signs hours later. I was advised c-section, or wait n risk health of mom and puppies. i know a ton of people who have had c-sect's done, so we decided to go ahead. I received a call hours later saying had to do emerg spay as she was bleeding(no explanation why?) I said ok, whatever it takes to keep her alive! I picked them all up later that day, no antibiotics etc, even tho I asked repeatedly?! & days later I was back with my bitch bleeding vaginally, a lot! Dr.Kimura put a tampon in her, told me couple hours later it stopped, she suspected a vaginal tear, she could go home. I refused, made them keep her overnight. I spoke to several different vets and breeders, ALL of whom said NO WAY, its a uterine arterie or stump, suture reaction. Vag tear on a c-section dog?! I asked for antibiotics, no. Ultrasound, NO! Asked them to check for internal bleeding, her hematacrit was down to 26, NO! so, i brought her home. $ days later she is gushing blood, so back we go! This time, THANK GOD, Dr. Michelle Dimtriw was there(at my reg clinic sheis who I see) My girl was rushed straight to surgery, while I bawled with 7 week old pups! %hours later Michelle called to ell me that due to the first vet improperly diagnosing, and treatimg the bleed, my beautiful 3yr old boxer, was full of necropsed tissue, and may not live another week! EXCUSE ME!!!?? Dr. Kimura charged me over @g for the c-section,plus the spay, then another 500+ to tell me, oh the bleeding is ok? Then when Dr. Dimitriw had to repair the mess created by Shelby's inefficieny, I ended up with another 5000.00 bill! Plus vet visits to Deerfoot North on a weekly basis, many meds, and I lost my job because if the bleed, that Shelby said was "fine'! Not once have I rceived an apology from McKnight, Dr.Kimura or anyone except Dr.McBride and Dr.Dimtriw, who have called me daily, checking on me, Kammi and my pups. I would expect at least half the total bills reimbursed, they have ruined her show career, her abilty to breed again, and possibly her life. |

I am so full of regret for taking our much loved family cat "Buddy" to this facility. His last hours will haunt me forever. We knew of this new clinic because our family does do some rescue work. We were aware of a rescue using them and thought that speaks for itself as far as caring about the well being of animals. We had called ahead to make sure that we could stay with him the entire time, this was extremely important to us. They said we could. Buddy was a very gentle boy and would never hurt a soul, the same care and regard was shown to him. During his illness I never left his side (without another family member to care for him). The time had come where we thought it was time to end this peacfully. We (myself, daughter and g-daughter and Buddy) were put into a room with 2 doors. They tears were flowing from all of us. The vet came in and the one thing I wanted to make sure was that I wanted sedation first and anything for pain... after much deliberation and begging not to seperate us we were coersed into thinking it would just be a minute to get a line in. He started to do something and I said I think he is dying, the vet tried to grab him from me and I said no, she still tried and my daughter pushed her hands aside. She said I'll take him back and give him some oxygen, the minute she went out one door another worker came in the other with a paper to sign (too many tears to be able to read it) and then came the sales pitch for urns and paw prints etc as well as a cordless debit machine?? All this while Buddy was still alive? We heard the most horrible cries I have ever heard from any cat in the back room, we were so heartbroken that all this was going so WRONG and we were not with him!! She brought him back in the room in his bed we had brought with him so he would be comfy and relaxed, I can't even tell you the site she brought back, it was horrifying. I think he died while he was in the back and I said he's dead he doesn't need that (two loaded syringes)She fumbled so quickly and shot both in the line so fast against my wishes. In my opinion, this was totally unethical, cruel and heartless. I asked her if she was going to listen for a heartbeat...she wasn't even carrying a stethascope :( I picked Buddy up wrapped him in his towel and held him. We protected, and loved him all his life, we felt at ease about this decision. Although, in the end we failed to protect him, he died in pain and fear with no compassion. It was simply about money. How disgusting, they should have their license revoked. Judging by the reviews here, I was shocked to see how many are for McKnight in Calgary.
*NOTE* I asked my daughter when I got home if I could see my invoice and she said she only had hers. Hers was for "Pawsitive Prints" the debit slip was hers but it was listed for a shih-tzu and another clients name and other personal info, she called to tell them and they said no that dog is alive. She had them fax a revised copy and my receipt as well. We told them we were not happy at all, they asked if we would like to speak to the manager, absolutely. It's been 4 days...still no call.
This day will haunt us forever, *RIP BUDDY* |

Not too good. Extremely expensive. Didn't do a good job diagnosing our dog's health problem. Went in for a minor external growth removal and he died a couple of hours after the operation. The Doctor left right after the surgery and was not there to try and save him. I think their priorities are askew. They need to try harder - show more concern for the pet. I would not go back |

I wish we had never met Dr. Dewey! He is neither professional nor knowledgeable. I am not the first one to write about him administering medication, without consulting the client first.
We almost lost our 3 months old German Shepherd puppy, after Dr. Dewey administered Leptospirosis vaccine to him, without consulting us, and offering this option, in addition to the basic vaccination the puppy had already received before, without any problems.
The puppy responded with epileptic seizures, which started the same day the vaccine was administered.
When we and our young kids witnessed a first epileptic seizure of the many to come, we were terrified, and brought the puppy to the clinic. After keeping the dog for a day, Dr. Dewey said that we had a defective dog with epilepsy.
We searched Internet and found reports about seizures being listed among other complications after vaccinations. When asked about it, Dr. Dewey said he had known nothing.
Only thanks to our dog breeder and the doctors from OVC who did their best to save our puppy, he is alive. At almost 4 years old, he is big and handsome, and very sweet! He has been seizure free and off medication, for more than 3 years.
Never again, would we let Dr. Dewey treat any pet of ours.

Dr. Dahlen is a FANTASTIC vet. We cannot say enough excellent things about her and her care of our 2 cats...one of which fell extremely ill shortly after we adopted her. Our kitty was so ill she was admitted for over a week and almost died. She was cared for by 2 different vets at McKnight before Dr. Dahlen began to care for her and we truly believe that her care, attention and tenacity is what saved our cat. We have required ongoing care and meds for the last 8 months and in that time Dr. Dahlen has never faltered from excellence. She listens and talks WITH us instead of "at" us (unlike so many vets we've met throughout this process), she explains things clearly and logically, and she isn't afraid to say "I don't know....but I'll get back to you with an answer"..and then does just that. In 8 months of communication almost every 1 - 2 weeks, she has never once missed calling us back. She is a truly an superb professional. |

I brought my very ill cat to this clinic a few times to see both Dr. Carl Hannigan and Dr. Stephan Porostocky. At first they were good, especially Dr. Porostocky. Although when I questioned their extremely high prices for the medications I was being charged for, which was exactly double compared to many other clinics, their attitude towards me changed very quickly. When they realized I was not going to purchase the drugs through them, since I requested a prescription, they over-charged me for the services that day. They also became very rude and unhelpful. I had brought my cat in for a general blood panel and they attempted to charge me in excess of $600.00 for specialty blood work and services that were not needed or agreed to. I then had to argue with their manager (Darrell Ogden) about the over-charge by Dr. Hannigan and he VERY reluctantly reduced my bill, slightly. I was so upset leaving this clinic with my dying cat in hand that I completely broke down crying. This happened several months ago and I still feel traumatised by what happened that day. Of course, the owner Dr. Porostocky did not even call me to rectify the situation. I can't believe there are people in the industry who are so callous and uncompassionate to scam someone out of their money when they are trying their best to save their dying, sick pet. I beg people to take a stand against clinics like this, and find veterinarians who care about your pet. These veterinarians are arrogant, rude, and could not give a damn about you or your pet. They are not genuinely interested in your pet because they care more about how high your bill is, since they get paid based on how much money they can get from you.....don’t be a willing participant. Find a clinic that is genuinely interested in your pet and is highly ethical and caring. These vets are NOT!!
Please contact Stat Healthcare @ 403-297-0700 to purchase supplies such as lactated ringer, needles and IV lines ect. You will be saving a tremendous amount of money and they have great customer service. And be sure to insist on a prescription for all prescription drugs your pet needs. This is exactly the information that Killarney Cat Hospital does not want you to know.

Don't be fooled by the beautiful building and 5 acre daycare area. The vets and vet techs seem more concerned with selling you every vaccine under the sun than with your animal. The first time I took my dog in was because I suspected she had a bladder infection. I was at the appt for an hour and a half, not because they were tending to my dog but trying to sell shots. Even thought my next vaccination date was not due for 3 months they insisted I get the shots, when I opted to wait until they acted like I didn't care about my dog. As we needed to put Abby in a kennel I thought the daycare/kennel attached to the vets office would be a great place for her to go. I did a tour and it was clean and appeared to be well run. I did get Abby's kennel cough shot so she could got there. When I returned for the booster they again tried to push all the same shots wasting my time. The next day I dropped her off at daycare and called later to see how she was. They informed me that they have been keeping her seperate for temperment testing. Thats fine but this is hours later and you never said that when I dropped her off. So the end result of the day is Abby a playful retreiver was kept on the opposite side of the fence by herself for 8 hours, she was stressed to say the least. They put her in some pool that smelled like a swamp and handed my husband a wet dog. When she got home she drank a full dish of water and was limping. What was supposed to be a fun day turned out to be a punishment. And the best part is when I complained they didn't care and still wanted their $24 for the day. |

Expensive and Rude, my mother's dog was having problems after getting spayed so we asked if the Dr could look at the rash she had been chewing quickly before we just started treating her for fleas just in case it was an allergic reaction to the meds she had given us. She wanted to charge a full consultation fee. 5 minute to take a look and if she said it was a hotspot we would have bought more meds and went on but instead we had to argue with he staff and make a stink. I brought the dog to my vet and HE looked told her and said is was a hotspot without a consultation fee. I know your a business but charging a for a full consultation for a question you could look up on Google seems greedy to me. |

Chose this vet years ago when I saw a posting in the newspaper stating what a wonderful vet -- donated funds to Guelph Veterinary Hospital in their dog's memory - so thought she must be good. She was our vet for years until 2007 when my little sheltie "Lexie" continued having blood in her urine and she decided to do an ultra-sound - brought in a mobile service-to perform the test. After test was done - she walked in to say my little angel had bladder cancer-tumour growing and would eventually not be able to urinate - bring her in then and we will put her to sleep -- maximum time left approx 3 months -- let's make her comfortable. My dog had no signs of pain or discomfort - however we ran around and got pills liquified and medication ordered. Went on line downloading books and speaking to our dog owners offering positive outlooks. Went to VEC (Veterinary Emergency Clinic) in Toronto and met Dr. Mason -- wonderful caring human being who understood my anxiety. Did another ultrasound and tests and advised -- NO CANCER only a thickening of the uterine wall due to infections. Dr. Brangers refused to accept this and would not refund the ultrasound costs (which were almost double the VEC charge) unless we had a biopsy performed. I was appalled at her answer -- not even an apology! Fortunately we were financially able to go the extra mile -- wonder how many other pet owners lost their pets to misdiagnosis and decided to end their pets misery without going further. The only thing important to this doctor is money!
My beautiful Sheltie is still with me -- almost 4 years after this stupid diagnosis -- needless to say -- AVOID this Clinic!

If I could find an even lower rating than poor I would definitely have put something considerably lower, The 'nurse' (she called her self that, I thought they were vet techs or vet assistants.) was nothing but rude, tried to sell us on pet insurance, gave him treats without even asking if she could do so, then proceeded to try and sell us on their dog training. Then got insulted when I replied 'no, we are waiting one month til spring so we can go in training classes with him and the weather is better. We're training him now on basic house rules/'potty' training so he has plenty to do for 1 whole month' (Most dobermans don't do well in cold either so I walk him every hour or so for 20 min rather than 3 long walks a few times a day). Then she proceeded to lecture me about the importance of training even though I said we have previous experience with many (well, and always professionally trained) dogs. She finally gave up on her pitch. Right before the nurse left though she seemed bothered by his food too and said he could eat a vegetarian diet, I said no thanks, they are opportunity eaters so I would rather him on a more natural diet with meat etc and I know soy doesn't sit with most dogs.
When the 'nurse' finally left, seemingly dejected. The vet came in and the first thing she also did was try to pitch pet insurance. (Do they get perks for signing you up to it or something?)
We again politely declined. She seemed bothered by this because then she asked about his diet with this insulted scowl on her face. I mentioned he was on arcana...I guess the 'nurse' didn't tell her as I mentioned it to the 'nurse' as well. (I was looking up training and diet for dobermans months before we got one, there's always a general percentage of fat/calories/protein etc. and I wanted something with a bit of carbs but also liked the idea of more vegetables and no wheat/corn/soy.
To which she assumed that I would not do any research for a dog that will be living with me the rest of his life, and said something along the lines of: I don't get nutrition advice from my cashier at the grocery store. Apparently thinking I bought this on the whim of the advice from the store I went to.
I do my own extensive research on all of my pets, I don't take the decision of another life in my house lightly.(Though considering the owner of the store I regularly buy my pet food at has a zoology degree and went to school to be a vet; If I had to take advice from anyone it would be the only person I would aside from my birds vet, of course.)
By this point I pretty much decided the vet was nothing more than a control freak who wanted nothing more than a sale. Which was proven to us all the more when she tried to sell us on pet insurance again as he hasn't had his testicles drop yet so there was room for a pitch there she thought, but only before she tried to get us to pay $500 to get him an MRI to see if they are there. (we said we would ask the breeder to make sure he isn't neutered first...)at which point my sly other half asked: well he's back in 3 weeks for his rabies shot, will it really be so dangerous to wait three weeks? she quickly said no then realized her mistake. 5 minutes before she was making it seem so urgent we had to get him in to an MRI right away after all. (are they really so desperate for money in north london that they had to do this? I have never been to a vet that cares about sales and not animals; it literally turned my stomach to listen to her try and sell, sell, sell.)
Then she tried to sell us on her food and dog training and before we left had two more pitches about the pet insurance again. (the really funny thing here is she didn't notice in the Health exam his testes didn't descend; it was when she was microchipping him. I take my birds to an amazing vet already so I think I will just take my dog there too. (no he's not avian, you can't find any cert. avian vets in london..though I've heard rumor of one, I can't find him/her) He's amazing nonetheless! and he never once did anything like trying to whore his wares the way this pathetic laura did. He does nothing but dote, care for and is amazing with my birds.
I have to admit the one and only lesson I got from this horrible ordeal was how lucky I really am to have a vet like him and I'm never taking my pets to any other clinic, ever again.
And yes, sadly, I am not exaggerating about how many times they pitched...The fact that they have the whole staff (even sign in to a lesser degree selling at all, is sick.)

Our dog did not look well so we took him to the hospital. We were asked to pay immediately for the dog's stay, but the vet didn't suggest a treatment. Next day, the same thing happened. The vet still hadn't administered/suggest a treatment, but we were immediately asked to pay for the dog's stay that day. Next day morning, the vet called and said a nurse found our dog dead when she came into work. We thought our dog would be under a professional's care and hence all the fees for his stay. We were so wrong. Not only the vet didn't attempt to treat my dog, he left my dog dying by himself in a metal cage unattended in the middle of a night. Since then, heard similar stories about this vet from people in the region. The vet is ok for the routine services (shots etc), and the building is nice. BUT please do not go to this vet when your pet requires actual medical attention. |

I was referred here by an another incompetent vet in Huntsville, Trish Wendell. If they see your checkbook - look out. Make you sign an agreement (with the devil) and the the costs go up and up, They did over $5000 worth of surgery - then told us it was cancer. MY beautiful dog was tortured, they put down. It's all about the money. I asked why they didn't test for cancer before they did all this surgery. I was told "Who do you think we are, Princess Margaret Hospital?" Yes, I thought they were the best, that's why I took my dog there! |

We had dealing with this vet as we know people who work here and we adopted a animal from here. This vet will put any and all animals down that she does not like. Her professionalism is awful. When asked her credentials she became very defensive and argumentative. It is a persons right to know what a vet, doctor, dentist, credentials are. This vet has numerous complaints against her and will not be around long. She is a very transient vet and could be your way soon. Do not allow this vet work on your animals as she does not care for animal life and well being but only for the money.. SAD |

I have had to deal with this clinic two times now. Once was on my own and the second I had not choice. This vet clinics morals and professionalism does not exist. As for Dr. Just she is awful and as I read earlier my dog also just about lost his eye due to her poor decisions. We had another vet look at our dog and had him rushed to Saskatoon vet college. When she was confronted on the situation all she had to say was get out or i'm calling the police..His eye was saved. I would never, ever, in my life attend this clinic again.
As for the second time. We had to attend after hours to where the vets here misdiagnosed my dogs ailment and left them overnight. My dog just about died. In the morning another vet at a different clinic operated emergency surgery. SMVA here I come. |

This practice has gotten worse each year over the past four years. I didn't realize that it could actually cost my cat's life, but it did. Our past vet, Rocky Mountain Animal Hospital misdiagnosed our cat and showed a real lack of respect and care for our 2 1/2 yr. old persian and although she was quite ill and we didn't realize, the extra distress and expense of visiting the Animal ER, resulting in putting her to sleep, was very distressing. The owner of this clinic, Dr. Tancher would not even return my calls. If you are in Colorado and using this very busy practice, reconsider, as their service, professionalism and attention to detail may cost your pet it's life and will certainly cause you more pain and money. Very sad about our sweet little kitten, Sadie. |

Very personality based and refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes. Did not give clear instructions when to to take puppy back for second shot.....therefore "I" had to pay to start the series over again. When the dog needed to be seen on an emergency, the girl at front dest would not even consult the doctor. She was a recording "no appointment, you don't get to see the doctor" while the dog was there suffering. I sat there until the doctor was finished her appt's anyways, and she repeated the same thing....HOW COLD!!!! The needed a 2 minute procedure to relieve her discomfort. |

One could not ask for a greater level of compassion or competence from everyone in this office! Our family has had Dr. Catherine Miller at Royal Oak Vetrinary Hospital care for our pets for approximately 4 years. No matter the reason for contact, yearly maintenance or crisis, the service provided comes with empathy and respect.
I have found it necessary to rely on her judgement & guidance in knowing when our dearest Rossie should "pass over". She has diagnosed unusual clinical presentations and has the good common-sense to know when she should refer on to a specialist ASAP. In daily application, her Vetrinary knowledge is consistantly sound.
While I am sure dealing with an owners emotions such as grief or worry are not a driving motivation for entering Vetrinary training, Vets know full well that it is unavoidable they are often left doing just that. Because of this, I can only imagine the high burnout rate in this profession; yet Dr. Miller continues to offer proficiency for both pet and owner.
Could anyone ask for more?
From every corner of our hearts, thank-you Catherine!

My 18lb cat had crystals in his bladder and was in a lot of pain. We rushed him to this hospital because they are privately owned and apparently charge more reasonable rates than the unionized vets in Calgary. 2 days later and $1100.00 we were able to pick up our cat and given a small amount of medication to get him through the next few days. He was home for 2 days before he starting panting like a dog and peeing on the floor, we rushed him back only to find out that he got a urinary track infection from the catheter, another $200.00. They gave us different medication for him which really seemed to help until he ran out of the first set of drugs – then major pain and distress followed. We rushed him back to the hospital again only to have them give him a couple more days of the same drugs that we went home with after his hospital stay. We are now up to $1500.00 and after the drugs were gone I had to take matters into my own hands and start giving the cat cranberry so he could deal with the pain, it did wonders while we waited 10 days to get his test results back. We called every day asking for results, even sat in the waiting room on day 6 to see if there was anything we could do to avoid bringing him back (he was very stressed in their care and it was a pre-existing condition so we didn’t feel bringing him back a 4th time for a huge fee was necessary). He is finally starting to feel better but I truly believe they didn’t take his size into consideration and gave him the same amount of medicine that they would give a 8lb cat. Having to beg them to give us a call back with test results for the next 4 days only caused us to get upset, the girls at the front desk are great but they have no control over anything and are unable to do anything but pass on a message asking the vets to call us back. The vets would never return a call so we got cranky with them only to find out that they had the test results for a couple days and didn’t feel the need to call us and let us know, even though we kept calling and letting them know that the cat was still suffering. Dr. Kumra pretty much told us to eff off and take our cat somewhere else, she is horrible to deal with and we do not recommend taking any animals to her. |

Very rude, disorganized, unfriendly and uncaring staff. Not to mention that they seem to have no regard for the aniamls they are treating. I cringe thinking of people who would unknowingly bring their animals here, especially in an emergency situation.
Unfortunately, the veterinary industry is often lacking in compassion and more concerned with how they increase their cash flow. Don't lose hope though, because there are some great vets and clinic's out there who do care about animals. |

These vets do not care about your pets- they care first and foremost about your money. Ran into a lady in the parking lot who had just picked up a tiny kitten that had just been hit by a car. Vet refused to treat it, even though the kitten was obviously hurt, without her paying for all of it. She had just found it on the road and was good enough to pick it up. I guess if a dog was hit in front of their door, they wouldn't treat it because there would be nobody to pay. Nobody expects vets to give away services but to deny care to an injured, abandoned animal is just cruel. Why even be a vet? Plus, they are way more expensive than anybody else. I will never go back. |

Not the place if your cat (or dog) needs overnight care or care during holidays (as I found out). Dr. Spooner is fantastic, but the youngest vet -- I forget her name -- Dr. Vandermeer, I think, was not very consistent. She just referred my cat (who had been in day treatment) to Vancouver Emergency, for his aftercare on a Sunday and Holiday -- if we thought he needed it, and then back to them when they re-opened, for the next several days. This left me confused about what was best for him -- did he need the aftercare or not? I don't have the medical background to make those decisions, but it didn't really make sense to me -- intensive care for about a week, then home with us, and then back to intensive care? Bottom line, it made me uncomfortable, so I switched to a vet that has overnight care available. |

When in the waiting room, I have spoken to other customers with cats, dogs, birds, ferrets and other lizards and they all speak very highly of Dr. Prus. The hospital is very clean and has a calm, but efficient atmosphere. I also find the fees for service are within what I would expect to pay. |

We had an early morning emergency and decided to take our dog to the vets at McKnight 24hr emergency in Calgary. They are professional and had helped us previously when our two dogs escaped the yard and were dropped off by a police cruiser.
Tails, our Great Pyranees cross had sudden paralysis. We understand the need to suppress pain, but I was angered and concerned when we went to see him at the end of the day. He was so drugged he couldn't keep his tongue in his mouth. Maybe all vets are expensive but we were taken aback paying over 6 bills for meds and x-rays, only to find out we had two options. 1. go to a specialist?! $$$$$. 2. euthanize.
Perhaps I was too hard on them, but learning you have no choice but to put down your pet, as well has being hurt seriously in a financial sense is not a recipe for good review.
I found the attitude snobby, cold and objective. At one point I talked with them on the phone during the day. They said the xrays (450 dollars) were not conclusive. Later we took our dog to a holistic vet as a last ditch attempt to save him. He stated that x-rays are seldom reliable. For that cost, why bother?Seems we were offered no choice. I felt robbed.
Perhaps they do not deserve a bad review, but my feeling that vets over charge and offer little true treatment has only been confirmed by this experience.
My wife took Tails back to McKnight this morning to have him put down. They were right. We can not afford to keep a crippled dog alive in this system. Only the rich can afford the option. Seems that this operation is a good one to take your pet if you have lots of disposable income. They'll love you.

I found him to be unprofessional and has a lack of knowledge and experience. I would never dream of returning as a client. Very unhappy since I loved the previous doctor and staff. |

don't take your animal there, they will say they are doing the surgery and then someone else that's new does the surgery and your pet ends up dying in their care. there's no one there at night so when your animal is really sick they just pass away by themselves. you call and say your animal is sick and they turn you away and then your animal dies at home. you take your animal to get surgery and they say if there's swelling to come back and then they send you home and say to come back if it swells again and then it bursts and leaves a big hole. |

Dr. Haakstad almost killed my cat by using drugs that are considered "off-label" and contraindicated for a cat with his health condition. I approached the owner of the clinic (Dr. Cyfra) and Dr. Haakstad, after my cat became extremely sick immediately after Dr. Haakstad administered a dangerous cocktail of drugs to my cat. They both became extremely unprofessional and defensive with me. I could not believe how poorly they treated me and my cat. They did absolutely nothing to try to rectify the situation. My cat is now on several medications and has to have fluids daily. I have consulted with several veterinarians that have given my cat a very poor prognosis due to the damage that were done to his kidneys.
If you care about your pet, I would find a veterinarian that cares about your animal and is competent, compassionate and professional.

Joseph ignored all the rules for the proper and safe administration of general anesthesia, causing our dog's death. Then he lied about what had happened to the New York State authorities who "investigated" his negligence. I would never, ever take an animal to this Vet, again! And I would advise anyone wanting to try this Vet,please don't do it. If you do, then know that your animal, will get very sick and/or die, being treated by this Vet!
As Dr. Dudzik is very good at doing that, to animals & making up things, wrong with your animal, when there isn't anything wrong, but it's just so she can take more money from you.
My Animal would still be here, if she had done her job properly, but because I don't have loads of money, she couldn't be bothered with checking up to see what was wrong so, I lost My Baby at only, 8yrs old.
Afterwards, the Vet Hospital yelled at her & when I went to see her, she hid in the back room. But trust me, she heard what I had to say, that's for sure.
Since then, I've heard horror stories about her, with her either making other animals very sick, to giving them, unnecessary surgeries, to making them die. Plus she never phones & checks up on your animal after surgery either, which is what is suppose to happen.
But see, she doesn't care about your Animal, as she has already received the money from you, after the surgery . As money is the most important thing to her, not the welfare of your animal, animals.
She is Money Hungry & Only Cares About Money & Trust Me, Doesn't Care One Bit About Your Animal, At All!! As all she cares about is herself, and how much money you have, to give to her pocket!
So if you care at all about your Dog, Cat, Etc then Please, Do Not Take Them To The Oak Bay Pet Clinic, in Victoria, B.C. Canada. |

I doublt there will be enough room on this page to tell you all the horror stories reguarding Debbie Beech. When she was only suppose to clean our dogs teeth she removes some as well. It took an infection and an other vet to see that when she removed the teeth she left the roots in the dogs gums. She must have just broke them off. One of our little dogs infection was so bad it rotted a hole in the roof of his mouth right into his sinus. Another little dog of ours was mis diagnose with a bad hip she said she did x rays but no one has been able to locate them including our new vet as it turns out the poor little guy has a very bad back and can now barely walk. His hip is just perfect. Our cat was given bladder surgery for bladder stones. Dr. Beech left a ridge in the bladder and now my poor cat has chonic bladder infections and constant visits to the vet. All of our pets are under constant care of a new vet Dr. Jeff Berry in Southampton. He has been unsuccessful in getting any files from Dr. Beech and most of the treatments our pets are receiving are due to the mistakes made by Dr Debbie Beech. She is the poorest of the poor. and the worst of the worst. I beg of you do not use this vet of you love your animals. L.A from Oakville |

Since I posted my unfavourable rating of McKnight Veterinary Clinic I have been contacted by Dr. Shelby Kimura personally. She re-did the blood work and gave my cat a complete exam all for free AND was excellent with him as she has always been. The original blood work was not lost, the clinic had some communication/technical issues which resulted in me not being advised of the results until now. Since Dr. Kimura was so kind, apologetic and SO willing to take responsibility and to ensure that this will never happen again, either to me or anyone else, I revise my rating of McKnight Veterinary Hospital from poor to excellent. Dr. Kimura has always been excellent with my cat, one of the many reasons this bad experience shocked me. Since anyone can make mistakes and yet few are willing to take responsibility when they do I think this bad experience in the end shows that Dr. Kimura has great character, professionalism, and caring... I can't tell you how much better her kindness has made me feel. |

I have been waiting for lab results (blood & urine) for my beautiful tabby cat for months. I have called half a dozen times or more since June 2009 and have been told I will receive a call back and I never do. Finally today I told McKnight Vet Hospital that I want my money refunded and a copy of my babies file so I can go to another vet. I hate complaining and being difficult however this is my cats health we are dealing with and I think they have been very negligent. Today I was told more excuses about them not knowing when was a good time to call and even a story about another vet calling me and I refused to speak with him - which of course is not true, I have never refused to speak with anyone. Clearly they have very faulty record keeping and its sad because they are such nice people. Then, of course, AGAIN today I was told I will receive a call back - so far nothing. Therefore, I am posting this because I don't want others to suffer the same fate - spending money they cannot afford only to receive no service and possibly jeopardize their pets health... in short I do not recommend this clinic based on this awful experience. |

Gets up again , 2-3 steps & lays down again !! I couldn't stand watching her suffer 8-( |

Horrible - this ruthless woman has pushed 3 older cats I know to the brink of their demise - very rough handling and causing undue stress. My sweet 17-year old boy went for a nail trim, she was concerned about his weight loss, so did a routine exam on him, cleaning his ears was torture for him and he remained stressed for 4 more days and refused to eat. I took him to another vet for a second opinion, and ended up putting him to sleep, things were not looking good for him. I would NEVER EVER recommend her, and I have heard the same from others. |

NIGHTMARE! The worst place ever! I trusted them and my pet ended up brain damaged by an insulin overdose. The vet left his son, who had NO formal veterinary training, alone to care for the patients. He used the wrong syrings and gave my cat a massive overdose of insulin. Then, my cat Toonces went without any treatment for 24 hours. NO LICENSED STAFF were there from closing Saturday until the vet was called in Sunday night.
The vet refuses to take responsibility for what happened to my cat. At first he admitted it but when he realized I was going to report him he started denying it. My cat never recovered. He was totally normal when he went in there, and he came out with dramatic, severe, brain damage that never went away. See our site at http://www.TheTooncesProject.com

Dr. Boyce is good! She is diligent, hard working, thorough, and has an intuition of a good clinician. Lots of experience too! She took care of lots of my guys' routine care without incident, but what really made me value her clinical skills was the way she handled a potentially devastating disease in my cat, Fedya, whose bladder was blocked. The poor fella had to be hospitalized for several days, during which, I received updates from Dr. Boyce, even at off-hours. She discussed the treatment with me and took my concerns into consideration. The only thing I wish she would do differently is prescribe Hill's prescription foods. I also wish she would adhere to a more minimal vaccination regimen. Otherwise, I believe she is a very good vet. |

One of Thomas McMichael, DVM's staff vets missed my beloved elderly cat's heart condition on an X-ray. When I confronted T. McMichael, he stated that this type of heart disease was missed because it can only be diagnosed by a cardiologist and cannot be diagnosed on an X-ray. For missing the condition, the staff vet eventually received a formal letter of censure from the vet board and attended classes "at the regional level to improve his ability to read radiographs and ultrasounds." When I confronted McMichael, however, and I made it clear that I didn't buy his explanation of the condition not being visible on an X-ray (and not being diagnosable by a regular vet), he became nasty to me and my whole family. We were all volunteers with a rescue group at the time, which had its convalescing homeless dogs boarded at his facility (for a fee). We took these dogs out for walks, spending up to 10 hours a week with them, as there are no outdoor runs at the hospital and the dogs are confined to cages 24/7. As soon as I confronted McMichael about my cat's missed diagnosis, he stopped all of us from walking these homeless dogs. After I was notified by the state board of the formal letter of censure issued to the staff vet for missing my cat's heart failure, my family and I added this information to the online reviews of the hospital. Dr. McMichael contacted some of these review sites to request that our reviews be removed. Two of the sites did, but the rest did not. To all of you victims of bad vets: keep fighting and spread the word to keep other people's pets safer. Take care of yourselves too. It's heart breaking, but taking action and educating others helps.
